General Information
-------------------

This document outlines the software changes in the A.03.04 version of the
HP ChemStation software for 3DCE, GC and HPLC.


This Revision
-------------
This revision is a minor software revision.

The changes described are relative to version A.03.03 of the HP
ChemStations.


Operating System
----------------

The software runs on MS-DOS Rev. 5.xx and 6.xx and Microsoft Windows
version 3.1 or Microsoft Windows for Workgroups version 3.11.

Hardware Requirements
---------------------

Refer to the "What You Need" chapter in the "Installing Your Chem-
Station" manual.

Upgrade Installation from 3.5" flexible disks
---------------------------------------------

Version A.03.04 consists of the installation disk set for A.03.03 and 
ONE software update disk which upgrades an existing HP ChemStation
from revision A.03.03 to A.03.04.

Please note: HP ChemStation versions prior to A.03.03 must be
upgraded to A.03.03 before applying the revision upgrade utility.
To update A.03.03 to A.03.04, shut down Windows.

At the MS-DOS command prompt, type:

       A:       <Return>  (or B: , if the update disk is in drive B) 
       HPUPDATE <Return>

Changes Relative to A.03.03
---------------------------

The following defect has been corrected in version A.03.04 of the 
HP ChemStation:

CALIBRATION

Temporary Solution:
------------------
This defect has been reported on several HP ChemStations, e. g. when 
performing the "Edit Entire Method" task when accessing dialog boxes
of the calibration user interface. If you do not wish to install the
update to version A.03.04, the following work-around is available:  

The failure does not occur if the instrument name (default: 
"Instrument 1" is shortended to less than 8 characters). 
If your instrument session shows the defect, shorten the instrument 
name.
To modify the instrument name, close your HP ChemStation and start the
HP ChemStation configuration editor. Highlight the instrument window
and select "Configure/Instrument". Modify the instrument name in the
"Instrument Name" field of the "Select Instrument" dialog. Make sure
the new name consists of less than 8 characters (e.g. "Inst 1").
Press OK and save the configuration ("File/Save"), exit from the
Configuration Editor and restart the HP Chemstation.
